Laboratory Results - Beyond Patient Testing



 

Clinical Laboratory Scientists are trained to perform laboratory tests and to troubleshoot and validate the results of those tests which contribute to a patient’s medical diagnosis. During this presentation, we will compare the steps involved in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory testing to the steps involved in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of developing leaders in the clinical laboratory.

Cheryl Vincent has been involved in employee and leadership training at ARUP for the past 17 years. She is part of the Organizational and Leadership Development Team in the Human Services Division of ARUP Laboratories where she is currently involved in training and coaching for supervisors, managers, and other employees interested in pursuing leadership opportunities. In addition, Cheryl is involved with employee engagement and leading the performance management team to review and update our processes so ARUP can move to an electronic performance management system. Cheryl graduated with a BS in Business from Utah State University and an MBA from Westminster College with an emphasis in Organizational Development.


Objectives

After this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Compare the steps involved in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical laboratory testing and those same phases in developing leaders.
  • Discuss the importance of setting goals in the leadership development process.
